  • Pretty amazing. Pélure d'oignon colour, almost overwhelming aromatic power and complexity, spiced honey, red apple, peach, strawberry and raspberry, candied bitter orange; gentle but vibrant mousse, ripe but fresh and elegant palate, very energetic, rounded and silky with lively skin bitters; long and complete, persistent finish. Lacks the ultimate finesse for an even higher score, but hugely impressive. A perfect companion for a home recreation of Christian Le Squer's "Timbale".

  • (Disgorged in early 2006, 49% Pinot Noir, 15% Meunière and 36% Chardonnay with addition of red wine from Bouzy)
Excellent storage, shown by the bright colour and all the pressure still left at this age! Adorable copper red colour showing a stream of very fine bubbles. At first a lovely creamy note on the nose before showing more mature burnt notes, orange zest and some dark chocolate as well in a very pleasant way. Opens up with coffee and some roasted notes as well. Smoothing acidity on the palate dominated by blood orange and burnt notes in a very pleasant way on the long lasting finish with a touch of orange zest. This has aged very gracefully over the last decade and is still very fruitful and fresh not showing as much tertiary notes as I anticipated. Still excellent together with a creamy morel risotto tonight!

  • (Disgorged in spring of 2006) Wonderful copper-coloured with a small stream of fine and tiny bubbles opening up an explosion of flavours on the nose. Youthful notes of lemon and strawberries mixed with more mature notes showing plums, leather and butterscotch. The palate is very much alive showing wild strawberries and cherry stones leading way for a very nice and long finish. Glad that this bottle was in such good condition, perfect to enjoy as an aperitif and even more so matching the corn-fed chicken for dinner! Best 2007-2022.

(Veuve Clicquot Champagne Brut Rosé Rare) Light salmon pink color with plenty of steady, very tiny bubbles; very appealing, mushroom, strawberry, honey, raspberry nose; tasty, delicate, mature, tart orange, strawberry, mushroom, mineral palate; medium-plus finish (nice version of this, which tends to show quite a bit of bottle variation, even from the same case) 93+ points

(Veuve Clicquot Rare Vintage Rosé (Recently Disgorged), Champagne) This fully mature and profound rosé Champagne dazzles with multilayered complexity and the seemingly weightless texture that one so often finds in great wines. The perfect vin de méditation. Hot Picks

(Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Champagne Brut Rosé Rare) This blend of 68% Pinot Noir and 32% Chardonnay is made with fruit from 17 grand and premier cru vineyards. Pale salmon with golden-orange highlights, it has inviting aromas of peaches, dried apricots, strawberries, lilies, and caramel. The palate is delicate and balanced, with flavors of toasted nuts, brioche, and golden raisins. The mousse is fine and persistent. The Shifting Landscape of Champagne
