Retail $60. Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, Rondinella. I first tasted this wine a little over two years ago and the note, perhaps not surprisingly, is pretty much the same today. It takes a while for Amarone to show significant changes in the bottle.
A slightly dull ruby in color. Showing ripe blueberries, strawberries, spices, a mild funkiness, smoke and oak. Pretty good mouthfeel on this; the acidity is quite vibrant, and the tannins are grippy without being overbearing. The oak is fairly prominent on this, but well integrated. The finish is dried blueberries and oak; interesting, to say the least.

Drank at Veeraswamy in London. Lot’s of red fruits and acidic chocolate, if that makes sense. Fair bit of oak. Nicely balanced but still young and tannic. Medium finish. Maybe this can get more complex but as my only experience with Amarone has been the master Quintarelli take my lowish score compared to other CTers with a pinch of salt. 91-92.

Retail $60. Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, Rondinella. Two Tiny 20ml bottles. I don't drink a ton of Amarone since I see it as a bit of a commitment; the wine requires attention and packs a pretty powerful punch. Nonetheless, when I do crack open a bottle of one of these iconic wines, I am almost always pleased. As I am here. Fairly dark in the glass with the classic Amarone nose of stewed red and black fruit (dark cherry, plum, blackberry) along with considerable spice, anise, forrest floor. Yeah, a lot going on here. The palate is rich and luscious, almost sweet, with plenty of weight, and incredible depth. Yeah, whoa. While there would be no way I could drink Amarone every night, I need to make a concerted effort to taste and drink more.

This is fantastic and not as over the top and hot as some young-ish Amarone.
Nose is subtle, aging and complex with worn leather, blueberry, strawberry jam and menthol.
Palate is full and balanced with persistent acidity and well integrated alcohol.
Flavours are harmonious and jammy but not cloying in any way. Medley of strawberry, blackberry and blueberry(!).
Excellent length. Plenty of room to mature but I like this today.
Drink through 2030.
