  • Decent on the first night, but definitely needs some red meat to pair alongside it. Would not recommend on its own.

  • MNB: Pyrazinic Reds II (Home (Noe st)): (non-blind - my wine)
Medium minus ruby - vibrant color but a bit washed-out for Carmenere. Clear and bright.
Prominent fresh-cut green pepper pyrazines on the nose, with a bit of coffee grounds (likely pyrazinic in origin). Almost no fruit on the nose.
Just a faint ripe attack - possible 2-3g RS, medium plus body, medium plus alcohol - 13.5% (actually 13%), medium plus acid (a bit strange - feels possibly acidified), medium minus tannins (a bit harsh and unrefined). No signs of oak treatment.

Notes are consistent with an entry-level Carmenere, showing a hint of black fruit, and otherwise balanced palate. The acid is a bit unintegrated, and the overall fruit presence is quite low. It's missing flavors of new oak, which would bridge with the pyrazinic coffee ground notes, and round out the palate.

42% 10 months in unspecified new french oak.

    Alcohol: 13% vol.
    pH: 3.6
    Total Acidity: 5.1 g/L
    Residual Sugar: 1.3 g/L
    Volatile Acidity: 0.65 g/L
