  Bold, straw yellow color. Nose is mild, showing light tropical fruits but nothing to indicate chardonnay. Taste is sweet, watery, low acid, flat fruit. Once the thin layer for fruit subsides, a nasty ethanol/vodka flavor dominates the palate.
  
  Not worth drinking; maybe can use for cooking.

  This 2014 Monterey appellation is lighter than the 2013 Cent Coast appellation. Slight res sugar with only moderate fruit. Bought for $4 so a good value. Suspect bottle variation as mine was not overly acidic as mentioned.

  I too was disappointed with this wine. It was very bad. The taste was sour and acidic. The wine is described as being rich and creamy with citrus flavors and a soft finish. It was anything but that. I took it back to the store and they exchanged it for me as a defective item.

  I am a little disappointed. Typically Cupcake offerings are never stellar, but rarely do they fail to at least express the varietal character of the grape. Previously we have tasted their Central Coast bottling, which is generally acceptable, but this one is designated Monterrey. This is barely OK Chardonnay. There isn't really anything wrong, it just lacks structure and character. It shows that simple, glycerine meets guava flavor we often taste in mass produced Central Coast white wines. Not really very fruity. Missing that ginger, peach, lemon, mango flavor that could indicate this is Chardonnay. Saved a half glass overnight just to check if things might open up. Nope.

  All tropical fruit skewed toward ripe, spiced banana, lighter bodied, but not much to it. A pass for me
