  • True to vintage this is a bit more bruising than it’s shoulder vintages, but it carries it well. Aromas of plum, violets, blue and red fruits, clove and tobacco. Beautiful wine and my favorite of the Aperture single vineyard Cabernet’s. May be entering a bit of a strange stage. Hold off a year or two on remaining bottle

  • This rich and juicy Cabernet its absolutely delicious - and easily the best Cabernet I’ve had from Alexander Valley. Dark purple in color; full in body; nose of blueberry, sour cherry, menthol, and gravel. Tastes of boysenberry, dark chocolate, graphite, and espresso, with a silky and full finish (with fewer leathery and spicy notes than many Alexander Valley reds, which often seem too dry and rustic for me). 14.8% alcohol. 94+ for now, with upside in another year or two. A decent value at about $85, this is a wine I'll seek out again.

  • First of the single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon bottlings we tasted at Aperture Cellars with Lauren.

Deep ruby red. Layered nose with ripe berries, dark cocoa, tobacco leaves, leather and cinnamon with an earthy undertone. Medium plus tannins (7.5/10) and full bodied. Lots of fall spices on the palate with some dark cocoa and blackberries. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2032.

  • Super dark purple in appearance. A bit of iron on the nose with notes of black berries, cigar box and baking spices. Heavy tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Rich and voluptuous palate with baking spices, blueberries, cassis, anise and crushed gravel. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2036. (94+)

  • PnP blind tasted - This was the WOTN - Lots of baking spices - light dust on the nose - full bodied and fruity, extracted - snow on the mountain sugar on the palate. Quite a surprise when I saw it was from Sonoma - well done!
