30+ year old Dolcetto from the DOCG and small hilltop village of Diano D'Alba planted in limestone soil. Imported by Kermit Lynch.
The vines are hand harvested and fermented in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeast. The wine ages ~1 year in the stainless steel tanks before bottling unfined and unfiltered, then aged another 2-3 months before release.
The wine is a bright see through ruby red color. The nose is filled with juicy red fruit, bing cherry, raspberry, and cinnamon like spice. This light bodied 13% abv red has ample acidy, and an easy quaffable quality to match with many different foods. A great example of textbook Dolcetto.
About $17 retail, great QPR.

Monthly Tasting at Wine Wizards: Decent journeyman Dolcetto but seemed to lack the spark to make it fun.
