Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Purchased at auction. Screwcap (one of the first to ever use it in Australian wine). 100% eden valley fruit. Was a quaffer in it's day. Advertised on TV with Bernard Sachs playing Manuel from Fawlty Towers. The colour of orange marmalade. Nose smells clean with orange rind, lime elements. Very, very dry palate.Almost a spritzig sensation on the front of the tongue. Then kerosene hints, madeirisation hints but mostly a neutral lime-orange taste. Finish is clean with a touch of kero. A fascinating survivor designed to be drunk after release but still alive at 36 years of age. Says something about screwcaps and about eden valley fruit.
