A big rambunctious Cali cab without any elegance, symmetry or finesse. Lots of big boisterous components black dark berries cocoa menthol but nothing works together. For the $240 I paid at the winery I would say I was ripped off. I’ve had much better wines from Beckstoffer grapes by producers like Schrader. Wouldn’t do this again, not worth that egregious price nor the $180 it goes for outside the winery at this time. I’d stick to their lower end $100 cab. Better bang for the buck.

3-Day Napa Cab Taste-Off: Vice Versa, B Cellars, Memento Mori, Alpha Omega, Purlieu, Janzen, Realm, Myriad, MACDONALD, Maybach, and more...; 2/7/2018-2/9/2018 (Napa): Barrel sample. Black core fruit, with some soil, dust, and spice to add interest. Delivery on this wine was a little flat and Simple Jack, but it still managed to offer pleasure by way of its approachable, medium-bodied personality. Not a hard edge to be found (which made it feel a little round and plush at times), lacking a little concentration, especially when compared to the other Beckstoffer wines.
A Purlieu GIII we had earlier in the day was more interesting to me. 92+ points.

Whirlwind Winter Tasting in the Valley; 2/7/2018-2/10/2018 (Napa Valley, CA): Barrel sample. Nicely perfumed nose of flowers and spices. Doesn't have the depth or structure of the other Beckstoffer offerings. Nice fruit and tasty, but lots of other GIII's that are better and less expensive. 92-93
