I gave this one a decant of several hours, and it showed well at dinner. The aromas were generous, even striking, with quite a bit of black cherry and black plum, and grace notes of strawberry. These followed on the palate. The acidity and tannins were well-balanced, and I detected no overt oak. All in all, delicious and satisfying...this one is ready to go, no need to wait to open it. Great QPR @ $25 from WTSO....what a deal!

(9/22/2019) Instead of buying often pricey Châteauneuf-du-Papes, I've been buying and drinking a lot of Gigondas lately. Interesting to try this well-priced Châteauneuf-du-Pape in comparison. The Gigondas are generally more rough and rustic, more earthy, and often lack any oak aging. This Châteauneuf-du-Pape shows the softer side of grenache and finishes with an afterburner of alcohol — typical of the 2016s. All in all, a good value that needs at least 5 more years to come together. Tasted twice.

Still some tannins to resolve, but a very nice kirsch and spice CDP that won't peak for 3-5 years or so I think.

Critical and CT reviews are on point, great juice with a bit of air and even more delicious with food. Quite the value here!
