  • Full bodied, strong wine. Wood, cassis, spicy, dark fruit

  • Ripe black fruit and medium body. A bit lacking in complexity.
A bit dissapointing. Definetly not a 99pts in my book. Not sure what Luca Maroni had in mind when awarding this wine such high points...
Altough the price level also doesn’t make one expect a 99pts wine, there are still much more exciting wines to be had for this money.

  • Reminded of a more tannic Negroamaro or a sweeter rounder aglianico. Nose was plentiful of sun, ripen red fruit, sour cherry, cassis, and intense secondary notes that weren't intrusive. Body was nicely balanced maintaining the nose hues but revealing more barique induced elements. It had vivid tannins & astringency which I like, leading to a high abv spicy apex. After taste was bitter sweet & endured. I think it could benefit from a 2-3 years ageing & some earthier notes, and maybe a bit less sweetness.

  • Doesn't need to breathe for long, 15 minutes can be plenty. Nose and palate immediately pleasant after opening.
    Appearance: clear deep ruby
Bouquet: clean nose of cocoa, licorice, and oak. Abundance of cherry and plum.
Palate: low acidity, lots of cherry and red fruit, easy to drink. Hints of licorice, relatively long juicy finish. Medium high amounts of grippy tannins, medium bodied overall.

Very good quality wine for the price.
Slightly off balance, too fruit heavy.

  • A little too sweet for my taste (my wife liked it). Therefore the dark fruity notes come off more like marmalade. It also has an herbal touch to it. Combined with the sweetness, this strongly reminded me of a Niepoort Tawny a drank recently, especially when tasted at warmer temperature. A little colder it was better but missing length. Since it is a very young wine, I gave it lots of air, which helped. But this is made to sell off fast, so I don't think it will benefit much from cellering.
