  • Opened, paper filtered and decanted. Tasted and seemed to be somewhat hard with a definite tannic undertone, so, hyper-decanted for 60 seconds which opened this up into an amazingly flavorful fruit-bomb. Explosive flavors over the entire palate with an incredibly long finish. Raspberries, cherries all sorts of red fruits were in abundance. This wine could still stand some bottle age, but, hyper-decanting certainly opened it up remarkably.
Somewhat high in alcohol at 14.3%, I found myself woozy after a glass or two and had to stop drinking it. But, it stood up nicely all evening in the decanter and my wife enjoyed the remainder of the bottle over the next 4 hours. I have more of these and will hold them for another few years before trying this again.

  • Purchased on a whim at the winery six years ago, and opened equally impulsively to accompany some grilled veggies and a steak. Upon opening, a hot blast of alcohol, but after we chilled the bottle and let it breathe for 30 minutes or so, the wine calmed down considerably. Stylistically, not really in my wheelhouse these days - still rather blowsy and fruit forward, with pleasing WV funkiness but not much in the way of secondary flavors. Nice silky texture, some acidity to offset all the fruit, but more alcoholic (14.5%) than I prefer.

A nice OR pinot for those who prefer a bigger style, but not remarkable.

Tasted June 16, 2007 at the winery. Dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of forest floor, spices and raspberries. A bit “bigger” on the palate with some spicy flavors, raspberries and sweet fruity currants. Medium acidity, medium to firm tannins, medium to full body. Hold another year before trying again. 14.3% alcohol.
