Community Tasting Notes (9) Avg Score: 87.9 points

  • Followed over two days open. Medium ruby color, about 70% saturated with no sediment. Medium intensity nose with bright spices, jasmine, and hot tar. Black cherries with a touch of oxidation and iron shavings on the palate along with strong acidity. Second night was much more cohesive and enjoyable with rich plum fruit and leather notes. Followed over two nights open and the more air it got, the better it got. The Corvina character is there, contained in a very easy to drink package with really good value @$14. 5+10+16+8= 89

  • Chilled to 60°. Initial floral nose gave way to earth and underbrush by second day. Dried cherries with hint of mushrooms. Had some mouth watering acidity with mild tannins. A pleasant enough wine.

  • Not bad. No real flaws, but colours inside the lines - it doesn't stand out in any real way. Flavour is mild, tannins are long and medium-mild, oak is mild, acid is a bit spiky but in a food-friendly way. Very easy to drink on its own but there's not much to savour.

  • Takes a little while to come out of its shell. The nose throws off a ton of wet earth and mushroom at first, but after it gets a little air that turns into accents that go along with a bit of leather and baking spice behind the dominant notes of sour cherry and cranberry. Palate is a little thin, both literally and metaphorically. Body is light, seeming nearly watery if there's a little too much chill. Flavors are muted, dominated by the same cranberry and sour cherry notes, with the prominent earthiness on the nose carrying through as a bit of umami in the finish. Acidity is high and lingers, somewhat distracting from the rapid disappearance of the fruit. There aren't any flaws here, but there's nothing special. Makes for a nicely balanced and reasonably flavorful table wine.
