Full of ripe plums, big but supple tannins, plenty-but-not-overbearing acidity. It has the dusty, earthiness of an old-fashioned European wine, and age worthiness for, well, the ages. Treads the fine line between medium and full bodied, without ever falling into the modern trap of Parkerizing.
It’s still frighteningly young, with so much more to come, but already a treat.

Ether and plum on the nose. On the palate, currant, blackberry, plum, and notes of mushroom, anise, and earthy spice on the long finish, with moderate tannins and strong acidity. This was an average to good value at a little over $60.

I can imagine myself a rich man, standing on the back of my boat, a cool breeze in the gloaming. Waves lap against the hull, and I sip this French wine - it's flawless with licorice, but no excitement. An excellent wine, but not one to satisfy this mid-life crisis.

Violet color, nose of cedar, pencil shavings, plum, hint of citric acid. Palate of red plum, eucalyptus, black licorice, some tartness on the finish, medium plus body. Medium plus tannins, medium coarseness, medium plus acidity. This is a really elegant wine, I wish I had more to see how it evolves in another decade or so.
