  Never had a wine do quite what this one did,... at open, before swirl, it was tight- it was plain- it was unimpressive. After opening it up, giving it some aeration time and pairing some yummy cheeses... all of a sudden this vin almost sang- nearly rich, close to full bodied, nice fruit without being overly sweet... it hit probably an 89 or 90 point place... but very quickly it seemed to collapse. The finish gave way to a bite. The tannin never really smoothed out. It lit up the throat and it just didn't play the game for any longer than the middle sips, so here we are with a moderate score based on the overall flavor and performance profile of this vin. 89.

  Surprisingly light red semi translucent color - garnet fading to pink. Red fruits and spicy earthy notes on the nose. Medium body. Nice balanced palate of cherry and strawberry, mild tanins, some tartness. Seems to ride the line between pinot noir, zin, and something to add a little tanic structure. A good supper with chocolate. Nothing overpowering. I would call this a cab drinker’s pinot stand-in. Update upon some research apparently no pinot in this sucker. Apparently zin cab and maybe Sangiovese. Anyway, still great on day 2. Balanced in all important ways.
