California Chardonnay in a less ripe, less oaky, more mineral-citrus winemaking style. Lemon and pear fruit, embellished by slightly candied sea salt caramel and citrus pith notes. Two years ago I recommended cellaring 2-4 more years. Guessing it is at peak now and is not likely to improve: feels distinctly softer and has lost some energy.

Refreshing Chardonnay with staying power. White Burgundy-like. Pale yellow gold. Lemon, hard and tart candied apple aroma, graham cracker. Bright flowery nose with a trace of oak, a mouthfilling bite of juicy but not overripe Honeycrisp apple and Bartlett pear fruits, and a slow farewell. I'd wait another two years to four years for this to gain some flesh and complexity if you have temp controlled storage. 90-92

Deovlet Wines (Deovlet Winery San Luis Obispo): Zotovich is in a riper area of the Santa Rita Hills, but still cooler than most other California coastal Chardonnay growing areas. This Chardonnay has lively bright notes of lemon and pear with a dash of subtle oak, light menthol, and a clean tart, mineral finish. No blousy apple pie here. 90-91

Seemed a little muted at first but after about 30 minutes the fruit came to the forefront. It’s a very good Chardonnay
