it has not yet completely entered its tertiair fase but it already shows old and fading acidits and the structure isn't there to support further cellaring, very disappointing QPR

I would thinks this might have been a great wine about 5-7 years ago. Now, the colour and nose are good, but the taste is fading quickly. Did enjoy it, but it only lasted just above one hour, then downhill.

The wine was opened and aerated for 3 hours before drinking. Clocking at 13% ABV, the wine possesses a musky purple color with the slightest of bricking orange at the rim as age is creeping into the wine. The wine leaves medium legs in the bowl. On first whiff, this Pomerol seems corked but after a while, the pungent smell was gone. Rather, it is replaced by a shy scent of preserved plums, kirsch, wet earth and tertiary notes of leather. Although weak, the nose is pure and delicate and quite dissimilar to the gaudy, in-your-face aromas of cult cabs. On the palate, the wine is smooth and the tannins well integrated and silky. There are prominent flavors of salted prunes, cassis and mushrooms with barely noticeable acidity. The wine is well-balanced and the finish is of medium length. Incredible second wine from a fabled estate. If only the finish was longer and the nose was more robust...

Drank this wine several times and always had a problem with cork. It was the same with the Lafleur 1996 Grand Vin...wonder what happened here in the cellar?
