  Drinks at home with the guys (Casa Esperanza): Very nice. I liked the nose here, with a lovely lift of red fruit chased by earth, meat, spice rubs, and a lift of florals. Nice, and very Gevrey. The palate lacked some of the weight one would expect form a 1999 Grand Cru, but there was nevertheless a lovely snap red fruit and earthy spice crowned with a good bit of fresh acidity. There was a nice sense of transperancy to it, along with a good depth of flavour and a nice lingering finish. Lots of energy and life on this yet, but already very enjoyable now, with the tannins softened into a silky robe, and the flavours rounding out and taken on a nice touch of complexity. Lovely, if rather on the rustic old school style.

  Had at Mas Farmhouse in Feb 2010, needed to open up a bit, but was fantastic once it did. Full-bodied pinot with great, silky finish and ripe berry flavors. Would definitely order again.
