Pale yellow color with green hints. Light, clean, nose of white and yellow flowers. Palate dominated by its pronounced stony character throughout with fruit flavors of lemon and quince. Begs for shellfish.

Starts out fat and fuzzy but with some air really linearizes and you get an almost painful intensity of fruit and razor sharp, mouth puckering acids. You can really taste the soil tones in this wine.

$11.99 retail, before discount. Tasted side by side with the 2004 'Ecu Orthogneiss and Granite bottlings (see TNs). The 2005 Gneiss was my favorite of the three wines. On the nose, it had the lightest aroma of the three, but it was also the freshest - with fresh lemon and mineral notes. On the palate, fresh and vibrant, with lemon and minerals. Well-balanced. Very impressive.

Not bad, but there is a distinct aroma of latex paint which detracts from the lemony/stony core of the wine.

Musty nose, almost corked? Some lemon and citrus as well. Drives a good length. Spice to finish. Has character.
