I opened this after a 2015 Carpineto Vino de Nobile Montepulciano Riserva and this was equally as good. The fruit was a little less pronounced but very close. 2015 was certainly a great vinatge.

I understand the tasting notes that imply this is a somewhat austere wine that isn't as full of flavor as other Chianti Classico Riservas/Gran Seleziones, and that a lot of air time was needed to bring out the flavor.
I think some of this is due to the vintage. 2015 was a great one in Tuscany, but it resulted in wines that can be very structured, and need a lot of time. I think this is a clear example of that.
On my first pour, I thought I was tasting a Barolo. I tasted more roses and other flowers, than berries. Very dry, very tart fruit. The midpalate and finish weren't very lengthy.
This didn't really open up until the third day. I then got classic tart red fruit that was far more generous than before. It made me think this won't be fully ready until 2023 at least.

Honestly a little disappointed with this second bottle, it never seemed to open up over two days, very light on fruit. Hopefully just needs more time.

This was quite sharp and concentrated. I hope this will loosen up and keep its fruit in 5 yrs or so.

Color: garnet, clear.
Nose: muted; red berries.
Palate: Fresh, surprisingly integrated. Cherries, some spice.
Finish: medium, somewhat restrained.
Delicious; already disappointed that I didn't buy more. A steal at less than $28.
