Community Tasting Notes (5) Median Score: 90 points

  • Pale yellow color with very good clarity. Fragrant floral aroma with citrus notes. Fruity citrus flavor — pineapple, mild grapefruit — plus green apples and a hint of minerality. Crisp, refreshing, but not overly acidic. Overall an excellent value in Sancerre.

  • This rating was done entirely separate from my rating of the same wine & vintage last month. The bottle label was different (no mention of a green glint for example) and the wine was markedly better. Could the two bottles have come from different casks? This wine had real cork, medium legs, and was a slightly yellow, water-like color ('lemon water'). The nose was of alcohol, citrus, lemon, kiwi, and Culinary Escapes apple pie; my tasting at ca 16 degrees C revealed notes of earth, minerals, unripe cantaloupe, rutabaga; medium finish; pair with chicken, grilled or fried; a very good Sancerre currently marked down at Costco, an excellent buy at its price point. Further note: After keeping it two days in the fridge, I can confirm that it keeps exceptionally well at temperatures just above freezing, its qualities continuing to improve; it is a full-bodied winner; I am changing my score from two days ago from 89 to 91; this wine grows on you

  • Clear, Pale yellow color. Apple, pineapple, & mildly chalky aromas. Flavors of golden delicious apples, pineapples, & peaches. Well balanced, crisp but not too acidic, & refreshing. Very good for relaxed sipping or as an accompaniment to roast chicken.

  • 'Mis en bouteille dans nos caves'; 13% alcohol, medium-weight foil, appears to be artificial cork, fast legs, medium yellow (looking for the 'light green glints' described on the label is like looking for the Green Ray at sunset); tasted at ca 13 degrees C, acidic, sour at the sides of the tongue and on the short finish, notes of gooseberries, citrus, minerals, a clean taste; drink solo -- in my opinion doesn't pair well with food
