Poured through an aerator into a decanter, where it sat for nearly 90 minutes. Dark purple, nearly opaque, with a lighter meniscus. Boysenberry, black and blue berries, lots of zin spice, plus oak on the nose and the excellent palate. Good acid and slight, fine tannins. Can feel some heat from the 15.3% alcohol on the nearly 30-second finish. A little leaner in the mouth than I recall of previous vintages. I expect this to be at its best over the next 3 years or so; wouldn’t hold them for too long (though I have no personal experience with aging these). And I don’t see any need to decant longer than 1 hour. Even less would work. 91-93 points.

Loads of potential here. Dark fruit flavors laced with solid acidity and tannins the need some time to soften. I'd bet the ratings on this will increase for those who can leave it alone to age gracefully for at lease a couple of years.

Sweet nose of fruit and dark chocolate. Initial taste of berry jam followed by tobacco bites and spicy black pepper.

Dark berries and vanilla on the nose. On the palate, fruit and spice! Not at all hot. A hit with barbecue!
