Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 89.6 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 48 notes)

Tasted by wineguy58 on 10/31/2009 & rated 89 points: medium bodied. Balanced think ripe strawberries with a kick. This bottle got turned to CHwines as my QPR daily drinker. Unfortunately his bottles have gone up in price and the reliability on quality has been suspect. Drink now (402 views)

Tasted by Rob MacKay on 7/28/2007 & rated 86 points: I can't go gaga over this like so many other people do but having said that, it is pretty decent and for the price you can't really go wrong. Slightly jammy but not overly high in alcohol which is a nice change from most Zinfandel you come across these days. (1778 views)
Tasted by DanSm on 7/1/2007 & rated 90 points: Wonderful with grilled or barbecued meat. This is powerful wine, so allow it to breath for an hour or so. (1860 views)
Tasted by DanSm on 6/10/2007 & rated 89 points: Still great, but opened a bottle which showed heavy oak. It's like the lush fruit is falling out. Anyone relate? Hmm....what's happening? (1878 views)
Tasted by mburleigh on 5/25/2007 & rated 88 points: Didn't like this one as much as the Syrahs from CH. Nice but the fruit was bit dull and it seemed a bit oaky. After breathing for an hour it softened up a bit. I may be spoiled as I'm a member of several wine clubs that specialize in Zins, they also average about $30. For $10 this is a great deal.  Tasted by DanSm on 5/6/2007 & rated 91 points: Stunningly beautiful...again. Blueberry and mocha. The essence of fine red wine is that it should never shock the palette due to above-normal acids or harsh tannins. With much less-expensive red wine, it can be the lack of time in the bottle for the acid and tannin to soften and thus the wine is technically undrinkable. By contrast, this wine was blended and has had adequate time to achieve drinkability. It may likely even improve with more time. (1880 views)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in over 100 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
