Picking up on Brianschool's note, served with grilled strip steak, bulgur salad. Perfect match. A bit tight on opening, decanted half, 30 minutes, left rest to breathe, just about right. Rich dark red and black fruit, black cherry, blackberry, bit of earth, cocoa, cedar. Good balance with a fine acid and tannin edge that was a yin to the rich fruit yang. Lovely drinking, developed gracefully, half with food and then the other half just disappeared after dinner.

The 2016 Clos Du Val Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a dark, brooding wine with a deep purple hue. The nose is complex and inviting, with aromas of blackberries, plums, cassis, and chocolate. There are also hints of earth, tobacco, and cedar.
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and concentrated, with flavors of black fruit, spice, and oak. The tannins are firm but well-integrated, and the finish is long and lingering.
This wine is a perfect match for grilled meats, roasted game, or hearty pasta dishes. It would also be a great choice for sipping on its own after dinner.

Decanted and strained, though sediment was light; Drinking nicely now. Rich but not heavy, with cherry notes to open, mineral backbone and an acid pop. Very well made wine and drinks a bit better than it’s under $50 price point. Well known label but quality has stayed consistent. Always a safe bet.
