  • A Chardonnay-dominant blend (Chardonnay 67%, Pinot Noir 23%, Pinot Meunier 10%) that gets its color with a small dose of red wine made from very ripe Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes. First aged in stainless steel for 8 months, going through a MLF, and then aged a further 16 months in the bottles with the lees.

Quite pale peachy orange color. Spicy, robust and definitely very atypical nose with noticeably funky tones, some earth, brioche, a little lemon marmalade, hints of manure, meatiness and something roasted with a touch of ripe red fruit and wool. I have no idea what's happening in my glass, but I like it. The wine is less freaky on the palate with tart flavors of lingonberries, cranberries and wild strawberries, some green apples, a little tart pithy grapefruit and a hint of farmyard with a complex backdrop of exotic spice. Moderately high acidity. Although the wine is Chardonnay-driven, the robust flavors of Pinosity dominate - Chardonnay mainly seems to work as a backbone here. The finish is quite long, balanced and complex with flavors of fresh red forest fruits, some lemony citrus fruits and a lovely, mouth-cleansing finishing note of chalky minerality.

A balanced, yet very interesting and atypical rosé bubbly. Definitely something different and original. Probably not the favorite wine of classic Champagne purists, but definitely worth seeking out if you enjoy wines outside the box. Probably will develop for a few years and keep for some more, but most likely isn't in need of further aging. Serve a bit warmer than fridge temp and let it breathe for a few moments. Good value at 32,60€.

  • Fine mousse, light pink color. Light strawberry flavor. A nice crisp but balanced wine, with just a hint of sweetness on the short clipped finish. Overall a terrific value at <$30, there are very few wines at this price point that will deliver similar enjoyment and drinkability.
