Tight and reserved on opening, a 2 hour decant with periodic swirling helped open up this relatively brawny, structured Volnay. A bit shy on the nose, this a nicely dense midpalate and a darker hue, perhaps as a function of the vintage. Really shined with Beef Wellington. This Volnay showed dark berry fruit and plum, with lovely tannins on the finish, with enough structure to give focus, but supple enough to provide immediate pleasure. A very nice, good value village Burg, no problem to hold or drink with a short decant.

More reductive than my other bottles, but still very nice.
