  • Nose of crushed violets, fresh raspberries, and spiced loam which extends to the palate accompanied by cassis, plum, fig, and terroir appropriate garrigue. Sound structure with balancing acid but not too intense. Lush and long finish.
Delightful, and a delicious pairing to roast leg of lamb.
    Medium+ robust body.
Decanted for 45 minutes. Still improving with cellar time. I have this vintage's window closing in 2030, but I may extend it another couple years.

  • It tastes like spiked cherry Kool-Aid with an undercurrent of brambles. If it weren't for the earthiness, this would be a gloppy mess. With the earth, it's passable. I applaud the winemaker for using an old-world style on this. So many CdP are modern style with no funk, so it's nice to find this redeeming quality in this wine.

  • Bought 15 bottles, down to 5 and so wish I’d gotten more… yummy with roast lamb.

  • First glass:
I decanted the bottle, aerated vigorously, and quickly poured a hefty tasting glass.
The aromas hit me during decanting -mainly spiced earthy notes. It’ll need some time for the berries to come forward I think.
The first taste has more of the same plus indistinct dark berries presenting aftward. Chewy tannins linger on the back end. Full bodied and powerful.
Cedar, incense… and plum is the only distinct fruit I am currently getting. It's a hot wine that needs a bit of time to decant.
I am looking forward to how it evolves.

30 minutes in and blackberries are starting to coalesce on the front palate. Spicebox and peppercorns are still in command though, guided by a garrigue salinity that lingers. It’s robust. This is a strong CdP.

Second glass, 2.5 hours after decanting.
Blackberries, blueberries, and plum are distinct, the spice box holds them from mid palate on. The tannins have integrated more, but are still a drying sharkskin shimmer that lingers in earthy contrapuncta to the bright berries.

I am really impressed with the value of this CdP. Quite a lot going on, and obviously will improve with a few more years. Unusual for this price point.

  • Very fruit forward with blackberry and strawberry. Big both on nose and palate, everywhere with everything probably due to the 15.5ish ABV which is very present and not especially elegant.
