Good, old school , well priced Red Bordeaux. On nose: mesquite charcoal, ripe blueberries, and a ghost of Asian spices. On palate: all above flavours follow through, along with present , well modulated oak, notes of cassis, and a ghost of rosemary......lean, elegant with refreshing tannins. Surprised that this carries 14.5% alcohol, high for the Bordeaux region, but shows no heat or imbalance. Also surprised that the blend is 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.....the soil of this estate contains pre- historic crustacean shells, and much stone and mineral deposit.....which would explain the lack of " jammy" quality in the Merlot ( a la Pomerol) . A 3 hour decant works well....went well with roast beef tonight.....can age a bit more.

A wonderful Bordeaux , especially for the price. Blackberries and dark cherry notes with hints of tobacco and leather. Firm but not overpowering tannin. Well balanced. Paired nicely with Biff Rydberg.
