  • Have you ever picked a bottle of wine thinking it was something else, and then been surprised when you opened it? Well I was with this bottle. I was thinking about something light and ended up with the complete opposite. This wine is deep purple in colour with lots of body. A great nose of dark fruits (damson?) and pepper. I didn't even decant, so it was a bit closed up at first. The fruits and pepper were there on the palate, but also something else - leather? I've seen liquorice suggested on another review, and that could be it. A real mouthfull with a long, pepper-y aftertaste. Not exactly the best wine for a June summer evening with roasted vegetables and Greek salad. Luckily there was some excellent cheese to follow, which was a perfect match. Somehow, I'd marked this up for drinking soon, but I think a few more years will allow it to mellow. Next time I'll check Celler Tracker first!

  • Comes of with some dark berries on the nose and a awfull lot of pepper. On the palate it is somwhat fruity on the front end but quikly turns towards spice and herbs. Quite a hot wine at 15%, but it is kept togeter nicely. Not a wine to be enjoyed alone, but with food.
