This a bit awkward: the fruit is no longer primary, and a fair amount of Barolo-like structure and earthy nuance keeps it from being friendly. This said, it is quite complex and I like it. Aromas of cherry, rusty iron, clay, mint, a little sweet almond, tar and roses. Tart and tannic on the palate, cherry and plum come through, but spicy, herbal and earthy notes are more prominent. Finishes long and dry, grippy and tangy, showing the serious side of 2016. It opens up steadily, so I think it will be more interesting in a few years, just in a weird spot now.

Fratelli Alessandria is new to me and after I tried their white Langhe Favorita last month (which offers very good value), I wanted to try their reds, starting with a Langhe Nebbiolo.
The Prinsiòt was medium ruby in colour and offered good sweet red fruit, red cherry, mixed berries, roses, orange peel, black tea, spices and hint of oak on the nose and palate, with good acidity, ripe, firm tannin and good length. The wine was quite dense for a Langhe Nebbiolo. It benefited from aeration (I recommend decanting for two hours) and delivered way above its classification and price, in terms of concentration, complexity and balance! I am really starting to like Fratelli Alessandria. I have to try one of their Barolos next. Drink from 2022+.

A private lunch (Brasserie van Baerle, Amsterdam, NL): Verduno fruit, wafts of roses, earthy and nutty, youthful and energetic, firm and tannic, weighty (14.5% ABV) but elegant and fresh, pure and precise. Needs a few years, classic style. Very good.

Denne gang skulle den bare have 15 minutter til at åbne sig. Så var den meget imødekommende og dejlig.
