Mid ruby red with medium minus optical density and medium mostly specular reflectivity. Aromas of stemmy cherry pit, dark red cherry, and earthy herbal spices (a touch of green basil). Juicy quality to the nose. On the palate, light in body and vibrant acidity dances across mouth. Tannins are light and texture is juicy with just a hint of sappiness. Flavours on the attack of juicy cherry fruits with a touch of light green pepper and gravel. Perhaps a bit green and stemmy, but not distractingly so for me, but could be for some. The midpalate carries the green pepper and cherry, but adds some spices and light oak. The finish is medium minus and shows very light power keg oak over green pepper.
This wine shows pyrazine, and perhaps reflects a cool vintage. While this is sometimes ok for my palate, it is about as strong as it could be before this would be flawed by my scale (a pyrazine flaw for me is defined by the inability to drink without some enjoyment- a drain washing bottle). A bit below what I expect from this producer, as horizontals from 2017's NZ PN have been much better. This bottle is really just ok, below average for sure. A good idea to save this for cooking, and if a good price, then totally fit for purpose. Otherwise, I'll be trying other producers.

Odd smoke nose and taste finish on first opening. Very light color and body. With food it was much better -- the smoke became less forward. Body remained light. It wasn't bad with food but I don't think I'll buy again.

Pas tres bon trop de souffle/fumé manque de fruit. Cheap wine.
