Well made wine, showing some complexity that comes with age while retaining its freshness. I’m generally not a fan of Shiraz (friends tell me I’m just picking the wrong bottles), but this bottle was enjoyable and followed a Pape Clement nicely. It’s a full bodied wine that retained balance. Decanted ~1 hr., served with dry aged beef and desert.

Nose is spicy, black pepper, clove and nutmeg with ripe black plums and cherries with overtones of some cedary fragrance. Palate echoed the nose, still need more time in the bottle for the components to achieve better balance. Fresh and clean notes with roasted chilli peppers and star anise. Some rough edges. Medium to full bodied structure. Finish is chalky but lingering spicy aftertaste.
