AP 36 18. Hmm, this one is a puzzle so I’ll refrain from rating it for now. Unlike the Rotlay bottling which was thoroughly approachable, this baby is still in a very primary, fat, and ‘grapey’ phase. Solidly in the dessert category (as it should be, as the first Auslese*** Selbach has produced in a long time), but it’s a little to young to be approachable in that sense. Beautiful acidity and puckering tartness to balance out the rich character. This will evolve into something amazingly special, but it will take patience.
Quick note: Terry Thiese opted not to offer this in his 2018 catalog, so finding this in the US may be a challenge. But a worthwhile one!

Stunning. Just lovely. Less pears, more diesel. Minerals aplenty. Tutti frutti. Hasn't even shredded its baby fat
