A big name in the orange wine world. Certainly an experience, with a superb 92+ nose, but slightly let down by the low energy palate. Better oranges out there.
Natural ferment, 18m in barriques, low sulphur.
N: Super intriguing nose of candied orange, dried roses, dried apricots, honeysuckle
P: Less exciting than the nose. Aromatic, floral, dried bitter fruit with pith. Subtle grip, low+ acid (probs due to late harvesting), orange blossom, red apple skin.
F: Bitter orange and lemon pith, blossom

Wonderful, rich, and savory. Pineapple and apple juice to start on the nose with hints of sage and something smoky (one taster said “bacon”). Paired with pesto, went very well. Skin contact evident, but not overbearing. Held up very well as the bottle warmed on the table.

5 day stainless steel maceration and then 18m in 25hL oak. Cleaner profile than some others. Baked apple and herb palate. Very nice texture, and easy drinking.

Südsteiermark, Slovenia and Collio (Friuli Venezia Giulia); 9/7/2019-9/20/2019 (Südsteiermark, Slovenia and Collio (Friuli Venezia Giulia)): Not marketed (until 2017) as an orange wine, but with 2 days of cold maceration it has a rusty gold colour. Rich yeasty smell, lovely ripe fruit and spice, figs and cake spice. Full bodied but no real tannins. Dry, medium acid and creamy, presumably went through malolactic. Long finish, very good.
