  • (Disgorged in November 2018, based on 2010 vintage, 100% Chardonnay from 50+ years old vines in Chouilly, dosage 1 gr/L, 1 994 bottles made)
Light yellow colour with a lovely nose showing incipient maturity with yellow apples, minerals and citrus flowers and opens up with buttered popcorn in a delicious way. Nice and smooth on the palate with a pleasant lemon acidity combined with a touch of fruity sweetness and a lovely saltiness showing as well on the intense finish. This is very good right now and has really opened up with the extra cellar time it has had.. but there’s no rush, this will definitely enter a new level within the next 5 or so years!

  • Bolognese, Brovias, and more (My place, Chicago IL): Nose: The nose is dazzling and complex as it weaves seamlessly tones of red apples, spiced pears, kumquat, custard, yellow flowers, minerals, dough, biscuits, and cinnamon spices.

Taste: The feel is Medium bodied with racy, high acidity. The acidity still has some real cut and verve that sets the place for balanced tones of red apples, spiced pears, kumquat, custard, yellow flowers, mineral tones, biscuits, and cinnamon spices.

Overall: This is even better than two years ago. This isn’t far off it’s peak, but it’s a real tour de force from this killer, tiny Champagne producer in Cramant.

Light yellow colour with an endless stream of very fine bubbles. Still youthful on the nose showing lime citrus, chalk and butter and opens up with a lovely butterscotch note in a delicious way. Nice lime citrus acidity on the palate before the buttery feeling takes over on the mid. Nice structure on the balance finish showing lime zest bitterness. This is really nice already, but should reward a few more years of extra cellaring.

  • champagne trip- Day 4 (Vazart-Coquart, Pertois-Lebrun, Diebolt-Vallois, Pierre Gimmonet) (Chouilly, Cramant, Cuis, Champagne, France): Nose: The nose is deep, meditative, and gorgeous with meyer lemons, bosc pears, nectarines, red apples, custard, vanilla extract, jasmine tea, sea spray, saline, white florals, baking spices, and warm dough notes. This is a nose that is easy to get lost in.

Taste: The feel is Medium/full bodied with crisp, high acidity. The feel is slightly larger scaled and supremely balanced with meyer lemons, red apples, bosc pears, custard, jasmine tea, sea spray, saline, white florals, and warm dough tones.

Overall: This is spectacular. It saw 6 years of lees aging and is from a single parcel. This is clearly the star of the lineup and it is drinking beautifully while filled with complexity and depth.
