This wine split the crowd last night, although everyone at worst still liked it. I thought it was glorious - smoke, tobacco, mineral red / dark fruits with a glorious overall balance that makes a good wine great. At its apogee now, I don't see it getting any better as the fruit will fade away. But if you have some now - party on!

soft, velvety, elegant. We've loved wines from the Douro wine region of Portugal since visiting there years ago. The schist soil makes their reds more full mouth almost like a great amarone not sure when we got these bottles but they are showing wonderfully right now. not typical of the those we've had, softer, showing grace. enjoy!

Smelling a little old and funky, in a good way. Cedar, black olive, sun-dried tomato, dried cherries on the nose. The palate is really mellow yet balanced at this point, the acidity is on the lighter side as well as the very late, light tannins that appear on the finish. That sort of cherry-cedar-sun dried tomato flavor is there again on the palate turning darker on the finish. That said, the intensity of the wine is pretty low despite the dark color in the glass. An easy drink at this point, I do not see this improving at all, matter of fact I would drink these now as I don't see them holding onto their fruit much past another couple/few years. A nice wine, refined feel, low intensity yet full in the mouth, with obvious age showing and a interesting character.
