A rich, dark, purpleish color. It’s a big wine, 15% alcohol and strong but pleasantly warm tannins. Lots of fresh eucalyptus taste from the very beginning, with some dark fruit, and then cherry comes through. All this over a kind of jammy fruit substrate. This is a huge wine with a very rich mouth feel and a finish that goes on and on. Of the three Rodney Strong single Vineyards, this is my favorite, although the Alexander Valley is a little bit more accessible early on.

Retail $75. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. *Really* Big Ass Bottle. Brothers (along with Alexander's Crown and Rockaway) sits atop the Rodney Strong pinnacle of wines. It is a single vineyard Cabernet from the northern reaches of the Alexander Valley in Sonoma County. Dark in the glass with rich, really rich, dark fruit (blackberry, plum, cassis), mocha, subtle oak, and both black and white pepper. The palate is nothing short of glorious (particularly after several hours open), with rich fruit, an "elegant heft," balanced acidity, a multitude of flavors and depth, and an absolutely killer finish. Incredible. thedrunkencyclist.com

Surprised by the 79 point rating on this wine. I have always been a Rodney Strong fan, a member of their wine club for several years and their Alexander's Crown was one of the first great wines I drank. Brothers is a big, big wine and will get better with time. Dark, black cherry, clove and leather. It is smooth with light acidity and tannins. Very smooth finish. Hold on to this one.
