  • Moderately translucent black cherry color. Ripe, sweet-toned and somewhat reticent nose with quite anonymous new world aromas of sweet blackberries, some peppery spice, a little bit of jammy red fruits and a hint of vanilla. The wine is full-bodied, soft and sweet-toned with rather fat and flabby overall character and jammy flavors of blackberry marmalade, overripe black cherries, some peppery spice, a little bit of sweet spicy oak, light peppery spice and a hint of vanilla. There are medium tannins but no acidity to speak of, making the wine feel very dull and lacking any form. The finish is quite long and somewhat bitter with quite rich flavors of peppery spice, blackberry jam, vanilla, some chocolatey oak, a little bit of cherry marmalade and a hint of Bourbon.

Holy schmoly what a wine. And that was not a positive assessment. This is just soft, sweet and flabby monstrosity with no sense of location or a smidgen of structure. An un-wine made for people who have a constant ache in their sweet tooth; I really can't see any fan of Italian red wine drinking this kind of sugary mass-marketed plonk. Horrible.
