First off, I recently had the pleasure of tasting two excellent CG selections from the late ‘70s that the winery had cellared and waited to release until the mid 2010s(!) (recorked, freshly labeled and polished - with the exception of the punt). Both were remarkably youthful in both hue and acidity with complex, developing tastes and aromas. This particular wine was released much more quickly and is therefore a window into the power and structure of Camille Giroud’s red Burgundies at a much earlier age. Deep ruby red with flecks of purple on sight. A tight nose reveals tender red fruit aromas with compliments of wild cherry, fig and orange peel. Light and fresh yet still tight on the palate, showing just-ripe red berries with medium body and medium tannin. Drink 2025 - 2035.

Knightsbridge Annual Holiday Burgundy/Champagne Tasting and Sale (Northbrook, IL): Walk around tasting. Black and red cherry throughout, this comes across as charming and approachable to start, but sneaky power comes through on an expanding finish. Good+ depth, good indeed now with upside.
