Another great wine we had on New Years Eve (along with a 2007 Poetry). Of course the Gargiulo was fresher, bigger and more fruit-forward. The Money Road Ranch is an admirable "No. 2" for Gargiulo. Although this wine is not inexpensive, I believe it represents a really nice PQR given the classic, near perfect valley floor cabernet that it is.
My 2nd wine for the event....decanted 75 min then a 2 hour slow ox. Deep purple in the glass. Confectioner's sugar on the nose initially and a whiff of alc early on. Mocha/chocolate early, too. The palate has dark red fruit, good energy, balanced all the way around with some dark chocolate later on. At the end of the evening, the nose starts to exude the same character as the BCellars Ehrlich cab does. HMC was kind enough to coravin some BCellars for us from one of his bottles and when it warmed up to room temp, it was eerily similar to this Gargiulo. Both vineyards, for both wines are on Money Ranch Road. Maybe neighbors? The younger '19 BCellars had a bit more 'candied' accent to it but the fruit/spice profile was eerily similar to all 3 of us tasting. Thanks for opening and comparing, HMC!

Held its own—better than expected—over the 5 days we drank the bottle. It was better the last 3 days, so I believe this will drink well for another few years at least.

Superb wine. Fig paste, prune, sweet tobacco. Settled, plush, with depth. Outstanding
