  • Translucent, luminous ruby red color. Very wild, expressive and crunchy nose with nuanced aromas of sour cherries, ripe cranberries, some fragrant Campari-driven chinotto tones, a little bit of acacia honey and a touch of earthy Pinosity. The wine is pure, wild and crunchy on the palate with very light and delicate body and intense flavors of dark cherries, bright red fruits, some tart lingonberry tones, a little bit of animal funk and a hint of crushed dark berries. The structure relies more on the high acidity than on the light and gentle tannins. The finish is rich, crunchy and somewhat wild with bright flavors of red berries, ripe dark cherries, some tart lingonberry tones, a little bit of sour cherry bitterness, light notes of darker fruits and a hint of Campari.

A thoroughly lovely, delicious and downright smashable little Pinot Noir that shows wonderful purity with a nicely fragrant natural-ish undercurrent. The balance between the high acidity and the sweeter ripe fruit tones is impeccable. Great stuff with wonderful purity, very different from the often heavier and more oak-driven Spätburgunders of Baden. Might continue to develop from here, but definitely doesn't need any more age. Recommended.
