Deep ruby in color, medium intensity on the nose. Herbaceous: tomato leaf. Black cherry, eucalyptus, but overall an alc/ethanol note that is too overpowering. On the palette black cherry again, but a lot of dry/dusty tannins. Got this to try out a higher end Priorat (is a Torroja del priorat village) but was disappointed. A bit of research explained why - it is 100% cariena/samso/mazuelo, which is a grape that I have found just doesn’t work well on its own. Interest as a research project, but not worth the price of entry ($70-80). Annoyingly they don’t mention on the label it’s 100% Cariena. Having realized I don’t like that grape on its own I would not have bought it had I known. If you like 100% cariena then this is probably one of the better available - it is certainly a soft version of that rough grape. If not, then stay well clear of this wine and find a Priorat that has the more classic Garnacha dominant blend with Cariena as its blending secondary string.

Excellent. Beautiful minerality and balance. Needs a few years but going very good places. Shows the potential of old vine Carignan.

Priorat wine fair 2019 (and related events); 5/2/2019-5/9/2019 (Tarragona and various places in Priorat): Much better than the Arbossar. Both of these wines come from old vines in a single plot. For me this one delivers. Very fresh and precise. Priorat minerality and dark fruits. Very good.
