I’ve had several bottles of this before, and really liked them. However, I found this one somewhat disappointing. The flavors were muddied and non-distinct, complexity and finish were only moderate at best, and the 14.1 ABV was very noticeable. I’m hoping this is an off bottle, as I still have one more.

Drank my second of four bottles tonight, and it’s much improved from prior review. Flavors are now all balanced, although perhaps a bit muted. No detailed tasting notes, but it was quite delicious. Drink or hold.

Still very young, but the vanilla & oak notes are almost overwhelming. There’s some dark fruit and earth underneath and soft tannins, but it seems awkward and unbalanced right now. I suspect it will improve with age. I’ve got one bottle left of the 2014, which I loved. By comparison, there was very little oak on that.

Blueberry and violets on the nose. Blueberry and blueberry pie up front, moving into a deep, earthy, almost muddy core and finishing reasonably long on tannin. A fun contrast with the 2017 Cristom Eileen Vineyard we drank it next to over two days: This was much heavier, darker and deeper and with much less acidity next to the very-2017-ish Cristom which was higher noted, much redder and with much more acidity on the finish.
