By the glass at The Morris in San Francisco. Nose is very floral; ripe red cherries and hints of violet and rose. There is also an earthy savoroness—almost vegetal—that I can’t quite put my finger on lurking in the background. Very complex. Palate is very fresh for having spent 18 years (I’m assuming) in the bottle. More ripe cherry notes, plum skin, some tomato leaf join a lovely balance between the high acidity and (still) pretty high tannins. Pair it with a fatty cut of grilled pork and Brussels sprouts and enjoy!

By the bottle at The Progress. A most versatile food wine. Stated 12-13% ABV.
