  • It's immediately apparent this wine was made from skill and experience rather than from a newcomer to the French Natural Wine arena.

Matassa Rouge is 100% early picked Carignan from South African/New Zealand transplant to the Southern Rhone, Tom Lobbe. It's beautifully pure, perfectly concentrated, and elegantly fresh - front-loaded with ripe berries and minerals. You'll notice some sulfur stink which will subside after ten or fifteen minutes. Then blackberries, raspberries and mulberries. It's light bodied and with a picture perfect high acid to light tannin balance. Silky smooth.

You won't remember the grape so much as the winemaking.
