  • Completely opaque, very dark purple. A lovely nose of cassis and mint - the latter gaining more prominence the longer the bottle is open. On the palate, a billow of sweet blackcurrant fruit with a thread of vanilla running through it, and that mint providing a refreshing end note. If there ever was much tannin here, it has integrated into a smooth and harmonious whole. There is a pleasant acidity on the finish, despite eight years of age. I'd be very interested to try this at four or five years old, as - pleasurable though it is - I can easily imagine a youthful energy picking it up a point or two. 13.7%, cork.
