  • 13.5% alcohol. Good dense cork with minimal printing and no more than a cm of wine penetration. Decanted an hour ahead. The colour is light, with significant bricking and thinning at the edge of the rim.
The nose is dominated by cooked raisiny aromas, with more interesting rose petal peeping through upon swirling. The mouth is better, as the pot-pourri flavours dominate the raisiny ones, and the finish has good liveliness. No tannins left, but good grip nevertheless.
While this is delicately framed like a Burgundy, it lacks the matching intensity. Interesting but not compelling for my palate, and probably not worthy of the long wait in the cellar.
Completely overwhelmed by a dish of lasagna; much better afterwards on its own. Not a repeat purchase.
