  • This is a robust gutsy Gigondas, made from Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah, showing fairly full body and tannic structure on a quite dark complexioned palate with savoury fruit, Provençal herbs, some liquorice, decent balancing acidity and a firm finish. The overall character showed the austere Mistral battling side of Provence rather than the charm which is a change from some edulcorated renderings of Gigondas proliferating nowadays. Nevertheless there seemed to be some charisma missing compared with my memories of, say, Cayron and Goubert. Perhaps it is still too young. Good.
