At long last a sub-$30 Burgundy that…actually tastes like Burgundy! Not fancy or profound, but no way you could mistake this for Cali or Oregon PN. This has an elegance and balance that just seems out of reach in New World Pinot. Very light garnet in color, nose of cherries, violets, and rose petals, with a hint of white pepper. On the palate, very balanced with nice acidity, and no discernible tannins. This is one for drinking young I think but très agreable! Really good QPR at $22.

Further to my Note of April 3 '21: Consistent notes on color, nose, body, persistence. I'll add a note about rusticity this time, acknowledging that finding Burg elegance from a recent vintage at this price would be...asking a lot? Update on my 24h test: Notes from April 3 bottle indicate that this does not benefit from holding for 24h: some fruit fade and deterioration occur.

Bought 8b for 20/b from a local independent shop; this is #1. Medium ruby; fragrant red fruit nose, some baking spice; mature full fruit body, very good mouthfeel; good persistence. Delicious. Enough tannins still showing that it should hold for several years. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation (see earlier posts for my 4-category, non-point rating system): This is outstanding- when considering quality, age, and price.
