  • Wasn't sure how this bottling would age compared to the standard Chardonnay from Stony Hill, but I needn't have worried. Looking at this, one would never believe it is 8 years old; it looks extremely young. Smells and tastes it, too. Excellent nose, with just enough fruit in the aromatics to suggest complexity. Very much the same in the mouth: understated but very pleasant. Actually complemented linguine and clams very well--hard for any Chardonnay, much less one from CA, to do. 5-12-16-8: 91/100.

  • This seemed different than some previous tasters notes would indicate. I thought it was a bright light to medium lemon yellow. Nose was lemony and chalky. Palate has good acidity and huge minerality much like a good Chablis. Long crystalline finish. Served at cellar temperature and with some air but it needs more air like all Stony Hill Chards seem to in my experience. Crisp and refreshing yet elegant and bordering on sophisticated and memorable. This is by no means in need of drinking up if well stored and I would say it could easily improve through its 10th birthday.

  • Strong minerality on the nose, characteristic Stony Hill leesy cumin note, dried pears. Deep penetrating fruit on the palate, smooth sour salty sweetness, crisp acid finish. Lovely lift and balance.
