  • Only a tiny 579 bottles produced. Unfiltered. Native yeasts. Old neutral barrels used. It’s an interesting project from Lapostolle’s head winemaker Andrea Leon. It’s like drinking their other more well-known cuvees like their Alexandre line or even their Clos Apalta without all the heavy make-up of oak so one can appreciate the differences of the various terroir of Colchagua and the varietal Carmenere. This is a rare artisanal side of Lapostolle. The Pumanque is one of three other cuvees. One is from the eastern side of Colchagua near San Fernando in Portezuelo and the other one is in Apalta in the center of Colchagua. This Pumanque is closer to the coast.
Nose of herbs, red fruit with a tiny bit of mint and chocolate. The palate is elegant with good acidity, dark red fruit, savory and spicy notes. A little licorice. No hard edges. A good food wine.
